Sounds and Stories is a celebration of the 25 anniversary year of the national concert hall of Wales, St David's hall, through a creative exploration of people's memories, stories and pictures of the concert hall, the Hayes area and Cardiff in the era of its construction.

Material gathered will inspire students from Moorland Primary School, Radyr Comprehensive School and St David's Catholic College in the creation of related performances culminating in an exhibition and performances at St David’s Hall in November. The music composition element of the project is run by John Hardy.

This project forms part of Cardiff's contribution to “Portrait of a Nation” - a national celebration and exploration of cultural identity with young people run by Liverpool Culture Company, 17 UK partner cities and the Heritage Lottery Fund during Liverpool’s year-long reign as the European City of Culture 2008. Sounds and Stories has been made possible by generous support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
